Our Mission

To provide quality early childhood education through hands on experience with nature.

Our Vision

Muddy Puddles is a community dedicated to spirited learning, imagination and outdoor play.  We will focus on the growth of the whole child and foster a sense of belonging to and appreciation of the natural environment.

Child-led Learning

Our educational philosophy is a commitment to child led learning.  Teachers scaffold new learning by asking and answering questions, expressing curiosity or concern and showing enthusiasm for new discoveries.  Social skills will be strengthened as children learn how to communicate with new friends, have empathy and use kindness.

Curriculum

Our teachers do not dictate what we will learn or when we will learn it:  our students do that.  We will use the the Growing Up Wild curriculum to set a framework for learning.  We will supplement that with Project Learning Tree and High Scope.

A Typical Day

Our days flow naturally with our flexible yet routine schedule.  We invite and embrace the curriculum as we follow our students interests.  Our teachers are facilitators of learning.  They are in tune with students needs, skills and discoveries.  Teacher facilitate small and large groups daily.

We Go Outdoors Everyday

We will spend a major portion of our day in the outdoor classroom.  There is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.  In the event of unsafe weather, as defined by ODJFS, we will conduct all activities indoors.  If the weather is unsafe we will do project work, experiment or large motor indoor activities.
